The Way of Revival

“Prepare the way for the Lord,

make straight paths for him.

Every valley shall be filled in,

Every mountain and hill made low.

The crooked roads shall become straight,

the rough ways smooth.

And all mankind will see God’s salvation.”

Luke 3:4-6

Over the last 2 years our team, along with AnGeL Ministries, has prayed for and worked many long hours for revival in the greater Augusta, Georgia and South Carolina area. We have prayed for revival to begin here and spread across our country and the world.

We, as a Revival Team, have experienced revival in our own hearts as we have read and studied Stephen Olford’s Heart Cry for Revival. Chapter 5 discusses The Way of Revival that is given to us in Luke 3:4-6.

Luke 3 tells us of John the Baptist’s “Challenge to Revival”.

“Prepare the way of the Lord…”

We are to live our lives such that God can reach others through us. In order to do this we must ask ourselves:

·      Is my life a Way of Prayer? – “When people encounter you (me), are they ushered at once into the presence of God? Do other Christians find it easy to pray with you (me) or is your (my) life a distraction from prayer?”

·      Is my life a way of life? – “When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory” Colossians 3:4. “May the Lord deliver us from merely existing and bring us into the real joy of living.”

·      Is my life a way of holiness? – “For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life” 1 Thessalonians 4:7. “Holiness…is the divine expectation and standard of everyone who bears the name of Christ.”

·      Is my life a way of love? – Do I exhibit the qualities of love found in 1 Corinthians 13?

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

This week take some time to meditate on these verses. Search your heart and ask if you are living your life so that God can reach others through you.

“The command is clear: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord’, that is to say, become such a way of prayer, of life, of holiness and of love that all men may see the salvation of God worked out in you.”
