Thankful Thursday ~ The God of Freedom

"Praise the LORD.

Praise the  LORD, O my soul.

I will praise the LORD all my life;

I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

Do not put your trust in princes,

in mortal men, who cannot save.

When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;

on that very day their plans come to nothing.

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,

whose hope is in the LORD his God,

the Maker of heaven and earth,

the sea, and everything in them - 

the LORD, who remains faithful forever.

He upholds the cause of the oppressed

and gives food to the hungry.

The LORD sets prisoners free,

the LORD gives sight to the blind,

the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down,

the LORD loves the righteous.

The LORD watches over the alien

and sustains the fatherless and the widow,

but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

The LORD reigns forever,

your God, O Zion, for all generations.

Psalm 146

Yesterday as we celebrated the Independence of the United States of America with friends my mind kept going back to the independence and freedom God gives me each and everyday. 

We remembered the men who gave their lives hundreds of years ago so that we may live in a free country. We remembered the men & women who continue to fight to protect our freedom.

May we never forget the freedom of eternal life God gave us when He sent His Son to die on the Cross to SAVE US from our sins. The LORD set us free! And for that I am forever thankful!

Continuing to count the Joy Dare #756 - #771:

• celebrating 8 fun-loving years with my son
• reflecting on how much "G-man" has grown
• the hope of trying one more time
• praying for restoration
• wondering if this time will be the charm
• freedom to pray & worship my Heavenly Father
• the gift of so many men years ago who fought to win our freedom
• the sacrifice made by men, women & families to protect our freedom
• floating in the pool while the kids swim & play
• fresh summer peach soup
• piles of paper, dust & toys that are evidence of a fun playful summer
• blazing orange moon on the horizon
• putting 10 yards of mulch out much faster than expected
• a husband who is faithful, hardworking & strong
• hot juicy grilled hamburgers, racks of ribs, BBQ chicken, corn & ice cold lemonade
• a milestone reached as we watched fireworks "live" for the first time in 8 years
